Attached is a picture of where I live; 8500 Nettle Creek Rd., Seneca, IL 61360. I have a half-mile driveway that connects me to Nettle Creek road. The railroad will cross my driveway at the rail’s 121st mile marker and I do not see the railroad caring much about putting in a single crossing for one family. The blue line I drew on the map is a major creek that has no crossing. If the railroad were to be built on the current proposed GLBR route my house would be encircled by a railroad and water on all sides. Travel would be impossible. For my farm we also have 5 grain bins, a barn, and 2 machine sheds that we would lose access to. We would also lose access to the 240 acres that we farm on that side of the railroad tracks. The great lakes basin railroad company has no reason to give us a crossing at our driveway and I am afraid they will not. Even if they say they will they have little to fear if they upset one family and do not build it or delay its construction for months. GLBR has already tried to go around landowners to get it’s way. First with holding the STB hearings during planting and now by threatening eminent domain to force landowners to give in or face the courtroom. I have no faith that GLBR will put a crossing or if they do they will delay its construction in such a manner that we will not be able to farm that 240 acres that year and we will not be able to access our 6 grain storage bins. I will most likely be forced to find somewhere else to live. This railroad cannot be built on the proposed route; doing so would displace me and severely hurt our farming operation.
