Our farm is on Detailed Map #12" at the west side of Winnebago County. The proposed rail would go lengthwise through our farm and then turn and go widthwise. It would destroy the fields heading all the way back to the river, cross two very old natural gas pipelines right next to the Rock River and then proceed up through the woodlot that is on a sheer cliff overlooking the river. It would cut through at least one of the Indian mounds and destroy one of the few remaining wildlife corridors in the county. Our farm is taking a particularly big "hit" from this project rendering it pretty much unlivable and unproductive except for the benefit of the rail road owners. Even if we tried to sell, it probably wouldn't be possible. Who would buy next to a railroad or want to live there? This would destroy what my family has worked for and lived on since the 1860's. Disgusting misuse of Eminent Domain for profit to a small group at the expense of helpless landowners who are no longer protected by law. Janet Hoisington"
