Having lived in a suburb of Chicago my entire life, I know how people ignore broken railroad gates. What protections will be in lace to ensure broken and malfunctioning gates are quickly repaired. With one train every 13 minutes, 110 per day, this is a serious concern, if a crossing has a broken gate too often eventually people will just drive around it even when it is working. This has the potential to be a serious problem. We also have major snow storms in the area, what is going to be in place t ensure the switches work all day every day in even in blizzard conditions, which are common.
