I think the STB needs to explore a new route for the Great Lakes Basin rail line. The current line involves too much destruction of the environment. I think the line needs to run South from Wisconsin using the BNSF line to Knoxville, IL. From Knoxville it can follow the BNSF line East to Streator, Il. From Streator, IL the line can follow the Norfolk Southern line to Indiana. This route is a true bypass and uses existing lines, or can run along side of existing lines. This reduce the environmental impact, reduces the new road crossings and has established re-routes for field drainage tiles, utilities and pipelines. This route uses what is already in place and makes it better. it does not destroy a whole new area. Please deny the existing GLB line in favor of this route.
