Re: Docket No. FD 35952 - Great Lakes Basin Transportation, Inc. Dear Mr. Navecky, My friends, who own and farm prime Illinois land with an historic home lovingly and accurately restored to its era, are faced with the possibility of having their dream and their planned legacy destroyed when the train runs through the middle of their property. On of their children, who has grown up in that home had a lung condition where he cannot be exposed to certain environmental particulates. His planned legacy will also be destroyed when the train runs through the middle of that property. Field drainage and tiles that have taken years of establishing will be eradicated. Soil will be compromised and never be the prime farm ground that nature provided. Environmental particulates will become present. Noise and vibrations will disturb their livestock, their home, and their lives. They are good, honest, hard working people. They are committed to doing everything right. They tell me that their home is not for sale. There is no need or want to do so. The neighbors to the south of them are a young couple with two small children who purchased their home to fulfill another piece of the puzzle called the American Dream. The house that has been created into a home is their planned legacy, which will be destroyed when the train invades the back of their property. The mom put her career on hold to raise their children as contributing members of society. Every possible building block to accomplish this is apparent in how these children are being raised by the couple. The husband also works for the State of Illinois helping our precious wildlife, the environment and properties owned by the state that provide rural recreation on land and water which also attracts tourist from around the world. Noise and vibrations will disturb their home, their lives and their dreams. Drainage will be altered causing problems that do not need to begin to exist. Environmental properties will become present that no one, especially children should be exposed to. They are also good honest, hard working people. They are also committed to doing everything right. Their home is not for sale. There is no need or want to do so. My friend who lives in Sumner Township heralded from Chicago Heights, Illinois. When the children came into their world her husband was insistent that they move somewhere where they could grow, as individuals and as a family. They bought a rambling farmhouse surrounded by lush farm fields and began establishing their dream and their legacy. Good, honest, hard working people. Committed to doing everything right. When the boys were very young, Julie's husband was diagnosed with colon cancer and died. I would strongly suspect that you would probably prefer not to see this woman's face when she would tell you that the remaining family of three made memories together and created, in honor of this man, the legacy that he had wanted for his family, and that they wanted for each other. Sumner Township. The proposed site for a 15,000-acre rail yard. No citizen of this county has had the courtesy of knowing for what or the whys. Every negative word or word can be placed here for an Environmental Impact Statement. I can't do it anymore but I can tell you this: This home is not for sale. There is no need or want to do so. These are just three stories of thousand... Great Lakes Basin Transportation, Inc. is not needed or wanted. Regard, April Gerstung
