I farm in Wilders, Wanatah, Wheatfield, and DeMotte, IN. The new planned route not only directly has an effect on my farm ground but my livelihood. Among others I recently bought my dream property and built a house in Wheatfield. This proposed route would cause a lot of extra traffic that would make going anywhere very difficult as well as take up valuable time, be very loud at my property that specifically bought for peace and quite. My property values would decreased due to all the extra noise and traffic. Not only would getting around in a vehicle be hard enough, my farm is on the north side of the tracks in Wheatfield, thus I have to move equipment over the tracks no matter what route I take. People are impatient enough let alone having to wait longer for farm equipment as I wait for trains. This would make moving equipment much more dangerous for me. I also fear for anyone that may need emergency services that would have to wait longer. Those few minutes could be life or death. I know there is no perfect route, however I do feel there are better options that wouldn't affect farms and farmers quite as much. I see no benefits for any of these small towns affected.
