I have great concern over the currently proposed route of the Great Lakes Basin Railroad through Kankakee County, IL. Expansion of infrastructure can be useful and positive for an area's economic development, but the proposed route will have devastating effects on the area state park, a youth summer camp, Rock Creek and environmental areas unique for this county. There are other potential routes that would not cause such devastating effects on the well-being and quality of life for area residents and visitors as well fragile fauna and natural environments. I do not believe the currently proposed route reflects any serious consideration to any of these factors.
