I think that putting a rail line through Southern Lake County and Porter County is a terrible idea for many reasons. We live and built our homes in the country because we love country living. Having a railroad running through or close to our property will kill our quiet, rural way of life. Not only will the noise and vibration of 100 plus trains a day be a nuisance, it will cause much of the wildlife to move, or be run over, by the trains. The chances of a derailment are something I hate to even think about. Hazardous, toxic materials will be transported through the middle of very productive farm ground with the risk of contaminating our water supply and the health of my family and neighbors. Our home and 150 acres of land are things we would like to leave to our children to enjoy in the future. The loss of farm land will also be a loss of income for us and those who farm it and our children in future years. Please reconsider this plan!
