Please explain why the GLB rail line is not bypassing the crowded Chicago area. A bypass takes trains away from an area, it prevents trains from going there to start with. I think the GLB line should utilize the existing Union Pacific line that runs from Sterling Illinois south to Princeville Illinois where it can connect with the existing BNSF line. From there it can use the existing BNSF line an run to Streator Illinois. From Streator IL it can run on the Norfolk Southern line east to jasper County Indiana. This takes the train further away from the heavily populated far suburbs that the current GLB line seeks to run through, it also keeps all trains from the South and many from the West from needing to go through the crowded Chicago market. Add to this many of the trains come from the south to Chicago as they are carrying freight from the Gulf of Mexico ports north and freight from the southern east coast north. This would be a bypass. GLB can purchase land along the existing railroads and this would not disrupt as many people as the current plan does, it would also be in areas already impacted environmentally by their existing trains.
