This concerns the proposed rail line through La Porte and Porter Counties in Indiana. I live within a quarter mile of where the line is proposed to split into two branches with one extending east and the other northwest. This is planned in Marsh Land. Often it is under water. Also the line is proposed to extend east along a ditch and the north side of Hwy 6 which contains swamp land. If this is built it will cut farms up with some farmers left with land they are unable to farm because it is either too small for todays equipment or is landlocked. There are no crossings listed In fields. Also, the rail line crosses north of the town of Westville and again on the south end of town. I know there are overpasses listed over Hwy 421........but who will build these? Actually much of the land the rail line will go through in Porter County is drained marsh land. The rail line will cut through ditches thus interrupting drainage. Besides 80 to 100 trains a day is just too much for the ears of both humans and farm animals. We do have rail lines nearby and I grew up with rail lines nearby; however these did not have as many trains running on them. I do not believe this line is needed. Thank you for listening.
