The proposition of a rail line adjacent to Camp Shaw Waw Nas See has been brought to my attention, and Im writing to declare my opposition to it. My sons have attended Camp Shaw for over 8 years now. It is a quiet, safe, and beautiful escape from suburbia. The creek that runs through it is a source of beauty, history, and fun for the kids. I am concerned about the noise and safety issues that would come with the rail line. Kids need a place to "get away" and be kids. The consistent rumbling of a nearby trail would definitely disrupt that, as would the real possibility of a derailment introducing toxic chemicals into the air or water. Please, this area is very special to us and many other families in northeast Illinois. there must be alternatives to this rail line. Please consider them. Thank you for your attention."
