I am writing on behalf of my mother, Ruth Milner, who resides on our 5th generation 150+ year old farm located at 8303 East B-C Townline Road, Clinton, WI. My mother is 83 years old, in poor health, still lives on the farm and wishes to remain there for the rest of her life. The proposed route for the proposed GLB rail will go right through the middle of our family farm, cutting it in half with no access to the other side. The purpose of this letter is to advise you that we are vehemently and strenuously opposed to this proposed rail without reservation. My mother depends on the income from some portions of this property for her well being and we, as a family, are concerned about the destruction of this property and its value if this proposed rail goes through. The proposed route will go through sensitive wetland areas and a spring creek that feeds the Turtle Creek watershed. Our family has always worked hard to diligently protect these areas to prevent erosion and preserve wildlife habitat, reptilian habitat and avian habitat. The introduction of this rail through our property would destroy a delicate ecosystem. This would also affect the hunting opportunities on this property as well as the positive economic impact hunting has for the State of Wisconsin. Please consider all of my above comments and it is my hope that this proposal will be denied in its entirety. It would be a tragedy to all concerned if this proceeds.
