As I sat on my back porch last night I enjoyed the sounds of nature around me - birds, waterfall, wind, frogs and insects buzzing. I could also hear the farm machinery of neighboring farmers working in their fields. But what struck me the most was the sounds of children playing on their farm OVER A HALF MILE AWAY! Sound travels across these flat fields in a way joining neighbor to neighbor despite living some distance apart. You never feel alone because you hear them and see them in quiet subtle ways. I can't imagine the only sound I will hear is the irritating roar of constant freight trains moving across our fields. The isolation will be immense. The proposed railway will be 150 yards from my door. I'm sure I will feel the vibration also. Why wouldn't I? I am totally opposed to the GLTB destroying Porter County in Indiana.
