I am opposed to the Great Lakes Basin railroad, because of the impact it will have on the Little Indian Creek Valley in Illinois, near Serena and Earlville. This valley is a stretch of old growth trees in the heart of farm country. The valley is full of bio-diversity and recreational opportunities. This valley does not need a bridge and a 250 foot swath cut from it for no reason other than GLB feels they want to build a rail line. GLB has not shown a need for this line or the ability to finance the line. But everyone knows the line will harm the waterways like the Little Indian Creek Valley and its surrounding woodlands. Please explain how GLB is going to protect the Little Indian Creek Valley and why building in this valley should be allowed. Please also investigate the historic nature of the valley, home to Chief Shabbona, leader of the Ottawa tribe of Native Americans.
