I am opposed to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad and would like to know how the STB will minimize the 110 trains per day’s impact on the Illinois Lincoln Highway Scenic Byway. This Byway was designated this distinction in order to celebrate and honor President Lincoln. This honor will be diminished by the proposed GLB rail line crossing the Byway. The Lincoln Byway allows visitors to explore Lincoln’s life and the rural areas of Illinois, this line will harm the visitor’s ability to experience Illinois as Lincoln did. The train will harm the historical nature of the Byway and many of the communities surrounding the byway. The STB must account for the many Lincoln sites, including the Lincoln Byway in its exploration of the GLB line.
