The Great Lakes Basin line needs to be denied. They plan on building their line near the Norwegian Settlers Memorial in Norway, Illinois. This line will harm tourists and visitor’s abilities to experience the historic town of Norway. The rumble of trains and the difficulty crossing the tracks to arrive in Norway will harm this historic site. Additionally, the tracks have the potential to adversely harm the oldest family owned business in Illinois, for over 100 years the Norway Store has been owned by one family and has served the community faithfully. This GLB line has the potential to make travel to the historic Norway Store difficult and some customers will be lost as they will refuse to cross the tracks, as the train delays on traffic will be enormous, given there will be 110 trains per day using the line.
