The environmental impacts of this project should also include the cumulative effects of a number of projects that have been and are being carried out in this area including: Numerous current, ongoing and proposed windmill projects, the Third Chicago Airport, The Interstate toll connector, the Bridgeport Intermodal near I-55 and expansion of the Intermodal facilities adjacent to Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, the effects of runoff from the connected rail switching yard. The effects of the railroad on Kankakee River State Part and I & M Canal State Trail, and the break in habitat continuity. Threatened species such as Ornate Box turtle, Indiana Bat and long-eared bat. The train will directly impact hunting programs at Kankakee River SP. Also, this project, and others like it, will have a huge impact on agricultural and rural lifestyles through it's footprint. Trains coming by every 10 minutes will have a serious negative impact on rural lifestyles from, noise, visual, health and will even impact schools. With the number of proposed crossings that will be shut, every fact of rural life will become a challenge. Finally, This is not a public enterprise which will benefit all. It is a private venture that will benefit very few at the expense of everyone within miles of the project.
