Our family farm is located at the corner of Verona and Grand Ridge Road in Grundy County. The proposed rail is sited to go across the East side of our family farm. To the immediate west of our farm is an abandoned coal mine. I have major concerns about this along with various other environmental impact concerns such as drainage, loss of productive PRIME farm land, hazardous spill issues, and traffic. LaSalle Nuclear Station is to the west of us also. Grand Ridge Road is very busy and I believe quick entry and exit is vital to a nuclear facility and rail traffic may slow it down.
