I am writing to my express my concern for the environment. When I was a little girl my parents would take me fishing. We would fish off a concrete structure with a large broken concrete slab lying next to it. The water cut a path around it as the concrete had collapsed in to the creek blocking the original flow. In light of the GLB, I recently found out this was part of a railroad bridge left behind from years past after the railroad had come and gone leaving behind their messes.. Forty Five years later from being that little girl, I can still drive by and see 3 concrete dilapidated structures within a few miles of our home and no doubt in my mind there are many more! My husband also pointed out on the GLB satellite maps the old rail line footprint is still visible some 70+ years later. If this environmental impact isn't enough to say NO to the GLB railroad, I don't know what would be. Shame on all who left this destruction and footprint on our highly productive farms, scenic land, and creeks for not only my generation but our children's and their children and FOREVER generations to come!!! My question is, why does Mr. Patton and the GLB think we need a new railroad in a time when the Class 1 railroads are still abandoning existing rail? We already have CREATE and 2 bypasses and possibly more! Is this the legacy this generation wants to to leave to the next? I think NOT!!! You can STOP this from being your legacy! Please say NO to then GLB project!!!
