I am 95 years old, please explain to me why a straight line is not preferable to a curved line when building this GLB route? This route meanders all over the country side, makes no sense to go to MP130 and MP140 to pick up a non class one railroad line, the Illinois Railway line, and then curve all over the place to get back on track with where they what to go. I remember Route 66, drove it many times, then they up and eliminated it and made straight roads to California, no more curves and trips through towns, why are we going backwards and building a curving rail road when throughout history we have been straightening our roads to eliminate them meandering all over? Please also explain why if this line is supposed to bypass the Chicago freight hubs the GLB people want to stop and pick up all this freight originating in the Chicago area, the route needs one on spot and one off spot to make it a true bypass, adding all these spurs and interchanges will just slow down train speed and not accomplish the goal of stopping freight from getting to the area in the first place. This plan makes no sense. Please explain why one on and one off is not preferable to a bunch of stops? The Indiana Toll Road lets you on and then you get off in only a few select spots, this route will let anyone on it and that is not a bypass, that is just another rail line and all these interchanges and letting on non class one rail lines does nothing but slow down the line, which is exactly opposite of why they are building the line. Foolish is the only word for this project. Furthermore, MR GLB states anyone along the route can build a spur and have a train stop to pick up a single railcar of freight, exactly what does he and the STB think we grow in these fields? How is a farmer going to afford a 2 million dollar spur to load one railcar a year of strawberries, as Mr. GLB stated in public they would, make any money? Do not fall for this man's lies, the farmers are not going to be able to ship one car load of anything a year to pay for a rail spur, the idea is ludicrous.
