Re: Docket No 35952 - Great Lakes Basin Transportation, Inc. Dear Mr. Navecky, Because of the extension that you have granted, I find myself again looking for the right words so that I don't take a piece of white paper and in bright red pen write: REALLY? I just read the last letter posed on your website written by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) James R. Carmean. He doesn't site any environmental issues so it will probably not count but he does address the fact that no major railroad has endorsed this project and two of the 6 Class I railroads in this area will not be using this proposed project, one of which you are familiar with. Letter marked E1-22974 dated 5/23/16, submitted by Norfolk Southern states that they have a robust route network" and its own by-pass route and the letter continues correcting statements from GLBT concerning Norfolk Southern not having a non disclosure or any other agreement with them. How embarrassing that must be for Great Lakes Basin Transportation, Inc. to not only be caught not telling the truth but having that displayed so publicly and to the agency that you're trying to get to do something for you. I don't know Mr. Carmean or his wife who also served with the United States Army but Mr. Carmean hasn't told any untruths to me so I'm going to publicly thank Lt. Col. Carmean and his wife for defending our country so that I have the freedom to write this, as Mr. Patton has the freedom to want this and you have the freedom to say NO! on behalf of all the Mr. and Mrs. Carmean's. Also on behalf of Lt. Col. Carmean and his wife I'm going to offer some environmental issues that I'm sure that they would be concerned about that would affect their home on 4 acres. Grant Park is surrounded by prime farmland and the construction and the operation of the trains will affect the drain tiles in their area and lead to potential flooding that they have never had on their property. The noise and vibrations from the continual use of trains on the tracks would cause unnecessary stress not only to them but to the livestock, birds and other animals that keep our balance of nature. I'm sure that they are worried about the effects of the potential pollution from the trains and their cargo on the trees and the flora disrupting the CO2. And I'm sure that they are worried about any HAZMAT, crude oil or any accidents or spills from any concerning cargo being carried. If anyone would know first hand the incredible unkindness of what any of these products can do it would be Mr. and Mrs. Carmean. "It is an unnecessary project" Mr. Carmean writes. "It is harmful to the private property rights of individual citizens." he states in his final paragraph. I agree and I ask that you stop this proposed project from going any further. Regards, April Gerstung"
