Docket # FD 35952 June 15, 2016 This letter is to express my unhappiness with the project to build railroads around Chicago in order to bypass Chicago and allow railroad cars to decrease the amount of time it takes them to get through Chicago. I own farm land that is in the footprint of the area where it is proposed that 16000 square acres of prime farmland be condemmed and changed into railroad yards. The farmland is part of the bread basket of the United States of America. The main products are corn, soybeans, and wheat. My family has been working farmland in this area for over 150 years. We are proud and happy to provide for the food needs of our nation. If you take this land, many other lands near will bear the terrible brunt of your project. 1. The flow of water in the creeks and the underground tiles will be disrupted and possibly cause flooding and loss of crops. 2. The trip between farmers and their farmland may end up taking many more miles because of the closing of roads that now are one mile apart. A one mile trip could become a ten mile trip. 3. Farmers will be forced to re-locate. Will they be able to replace their current farms with the same wonderful soil and location to Chicago? Please consider that your project will cause a complete disruption of the community of Kankakee County, Illinois. Please do not continue with this project. Best Regards, Martin Conroy
