I am writing to express the safety concerns at the intersection of Verona and Waupecan roads NW 1/4 Section 13, Vienna Twp, Grundy county,il. This intersection with current east west stops signs and 2 proposed rail crossings within close proximity will make this intersection a nightmare to navigate for all vehicles and impossible for school buses and large farm equipment to clear stop signs/tracks. On top of being on a diagonal making it hard to see oncoming trains, the North east side of this intersection is lined with evergreen trees the entire length of the field making it also impossible to see trains. Waupecan Road is a major farm traveled road for farm equipment to stay off the main road (Grand ridge Road ) a mile to the south. Waupecan is not abandoned as Mr Patton says most of our country roads are! Our country roads are well maintained and used. The only road to the north that runs a complete east west route is 4 miles north which is also a main road.(Dupont road). Waupecan would need to stay open or it would take us multiple trips of 6 miles each way out on the main road Grand Ridge just to get to the back of our field. These trips would include moving a tractor and planter, tractor and anhydrous tool bar, sprayer, combines, tractor and field cultivator, tractor and disk, tractor and wagons therefore causing more safety issues by taking this equipment on major traveled roads! If Mr Patton actually would have done his research or even sent people to inspect route he would of also noticed his maps are incorrect. Ward road doesn't exist from Grand Ridge Road to Waupecan road. That is a field! There has never been a road there! I am asking the STB to say No to Mr. Patton. It is hard to believe is has gotten this far with the lack of knowledge and no experience Mr Patton has regarding a railroad! Mr Patton drew a line and we are all, jumping through hoops to,say why not to build it!!! It is hard to believe that this can happen in the U..S.A and it shouldn't be allowed!!! Say NO to the GLB!!!!
