I am sending these comments in protest of the railroad. We live 250ft from where the railroad is planned to be placed and where it will cross on route 2. my protest is this...we have 4 kids. our oldest just graduated and will be commuting to Valparaiso university everyday. any way she goes she will have to cross a railroad crossing and will more than likely be late to classes if she doesn't time each crossing just right. she will have to cross at least 2 each morning. not to mention my other 3 attend Hebron school and drive everyday to school and with the crossing right in front of our driveway what will that do to their drive time...plus the danger of getting on the road to go to school because there will be a line of cars there waiting. I am to understand that 110 trains will be going by all day every day? what will that do to traffic on route 2. it's already a busy dangerous road especially with the quarry with all the bigger trucks. my in laws live next door to us and they are 175ft from the tracks and my father in law has heart issues and just recently had a triple bypass and my mother in law has multiple myeloma this railroad will just make them worse with the trains going every 10 minutes and you know they will have to blow horns because the crossing is right next to their house. what will the toxins coming from the trains do to our water since we have well water and the air pollution will not be good either. we raise farm animals here at our house. these trains will only harm our egg production from our hens and our pigs will get just as sick from the toxins as we will. the crossing here at our house is not equipped for buses, fire trucks, and emergency vehicles such as ambulances and such. we have many of these emergency vehicles come by our house everyday for many emergencies because route 2 is a direct route for many towns. this railroad will be a hindrance in all perspectives. the danger of these trains is my concern because the crossing is right here.
