I am writing to oppose the Great Lakes Basin Transportation plan. If you Google the existing railroads in northern Indiana you will see that we have plenty of trains already. The what we used to call the Grand Trunk railroad runs almost exactly where they are proposing this Great Lakes train to run. Why destroy good fertile farm ground? Why close & block our existing roads? Why hinder our emergency services (fire, EMS)? Why dam our watershed to the Kankakee River? ect., etc, when the existing tracks can do the same thing the new proposed train can do. There can only be one reason, money, some investor stands to make money. Does one company have the right to steal the land and livelihood of others to line their pockets? I hope you will thoroughly look into this project and do what is best for all. Thank you Deb Herrold. LaPorte Co.
