Rodent populations follow rail lines and bring pestilence and disease to infested areas according to the Illinois Department of Public Health data. Farmland would be lost FOREVER. ANd when green space is lost, it often cannot be replaced. That would be the case if GLB's proposal is approved. While that may not be the primary concern of the STB, it is to residents of Kankakee County. It is not just about individuals losing the property they've worked to hold on to over years, but destroying too many rural areas in our community. The noise pollution and debris that follow railroads already exist in many areas of Kankakee County with the current rail traffic; please do not further burden our area with more pollution, waste and pestilence.
