I am filing my comments regarding the proposed GLB railroad project. Noise pollution- Based on their website they claimed up to 110 trains per day. That means a train every 13 minutes all day long. We already have a train line in town with limited activity(10-15 trains) which a creates noise pollution that can heard from a far distance. Road Infrastructure- We live in a rural with limited road access so bringing 15,000 acre train facility which would cause safety issues. There is no way the current roads can handle a high volume of truck traffic. Emergency vehicles- On a good day there will be a train every 13 minutes. We all know trains stop and block important intersections. This already happens in town. It is only matter of time when an emergency vehicle won’t be able to get where it needs because of a train. Minutes\seconds matter in an emergency What will happen when there is a spill which is bound to happen? This will pollute the local water table and potentially all the way to the Kankakee river which supplies water to thousands of residents in the area.
