This rail line is not needed or wanted. the area we live in currently has a NS line running southeast to northwest. With the fire department to the west across the tracks, when there's a stopped train the fire dept. cannot respond. Westville FD assists, usually getting here first and this line would cut off Westville from our area. The line would cross route 6 near county line and then cross 421 on the north side of Westville. We already have rail lines running on that angle not too many miles east of there. Finally, we were surprised while driving in In Illinois to Kankakee State Park (NW of Kankakee, Il.), to find that the planned route would cut through that park. My final question would be where does a group have the right to decide they want to build a rail line through peoples farms, homes, and state parks, with little regard to public safety or congestion, to provide a service to rail companies who have either already stated that they won't use the line or won't commit to using the line. These are rural areas that people have moved into to escape the congestion of being closer to the larger cities. Thank you, Jim O'Rourke.
