I am very worried about the potential for the building of the GLB Railroad. As a farmer, I am concerned about the large fields being divided into small pieces. This will increase compaction of the soil and difficulty managing with big equipment. The beauty of the Kankakee State Park, the area's pride and joy, will be diminished. I am also concerned about the impact of artificial pond creation and the management of large unused portions of easement. Contamination due to spills and derailments is of course a huge risk to our rich land and water. Our farm, where we live, will be affected by noise, a pollutant intolerable to those of us that have chosen a rural lifestyle. In closing, I ask those in power to protect Illinois farmers, their lands and lives, by voting down the building of an unnecessary railroad by this mysterious company.
