I am opposed to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad project due to what I consider the selfish ambition of big money." This railroad will not only destroy irreplaceable natural resources such as farmland, but also parts/all of the livelihood of many rural residents who cannot easily change their circumstances. Farmers are raised and trained almost from birth and often inherit the land that they work. To take their heritage and years of dedicated hard labor right out from under their noses, is like the Antichrist of the "American Dream." In addition to those who's land is directly affected, this rail line will significantly inconvenience/degrade the lifestyles of those in the vicinity with its noise and air pollution and road interruptions. Please consider upgrading/expanding the current lines. In today's world of technology and knowledge, there must be a way to improve on what we already have instead of devastating new territory for the sake of the railroad's and its investor's convenience only."
