I am opposed to the Great Basin Railroad proposed expansion. Other than the obvious loss of productive farmland, the quality of life for those living in the area will be greatly impacted. The person / persons responsible for the proposal are likely thinking they could just move". What they don't understand is this is THEIR HOME and moving is out of the question. That is the type of life people in rural America lead. This type of person is not swayed or impressed by the almighty dollar and moving is out of the question. For those who are forced to move may be considered "lucky" because at least they will be compensated. What about the "fortunate" ones who live just outside the planned site who will not be financially compensated (not that it matters) and would get to put up with the constant noise pollution, eyesores, and all other wonderful things associated with constantly moving trains. I guess we can all take comfort in the beautiful graffiti artwork that will be continually rolling through "Gods Country". I know this proposal runs through at least one state park. I'm surprised this is even possible or allowable but it causes me to wonder about displacement and or effects of wildlife, fish, native plants and such. In the spirit of trying to keep this simple, much like the rural lifestyle SHOULD be, I will keep my points to a minimum but strongly URGE you to vote against this proposal."
