I live and Farm in Yellowhead Township. I also own land in Sumner Township inside the footprint of the 15,000 acre rail yard site. I am 100% against the GLB railroad. A 15,000 acre rail yard will have massive water runoff. One inch of rain on one acre is around 27,000 gallons. Multiply that by 15,000 acres and you have of 400 million gallons of water, per inch of rain. Will all runoff water be required to be treated and tested? How many test wells will they be required to drill and maintain? What will they do if contamination is found? The Kankakee river is less than 10 miles south of site and is the source of drinking water for over 80,000 people in Kankakee County. Water flows from site directly to the river. I boat and swim in the Kankakee river and do not want it to become another Flint Michigan river. I urge you to deny the GLB railroad. A 15,000 acre rail yard will be the biggest environmental disaster in over a 100 years.
