Dear Mr. Navecky, I am writing to convey my concerns about the Great Lakes Basin Railroad proposal. Some of my concerns are, the permanent loss of prime agricultural land, the loss of farm income, the decrease in property values, the loss wildlife and rural landscape. There is no need for this project and even if there was some type of need, it does not outweigh the importance of life and livelihood in the areas that would be negatively impacted. How can a project that would destroy so many people's way of life even be considered?? For the good of the people? What people? Why don't the people that live & work in these area matter?? If none of that matters, then what about the natural grade of the land, being altered disrupting the natural flow of surface water creating artificial ponds and wetlands. Areas holding water will become stagnant leading to issues with wildlife, mosquitoes and other maladies. Trees would be cut down. Creeks, ditches and rivers would be negatively impacted. There are erosion issues, fields would become useless for agriculture production, ground water contamination due to spills or leakage, etc.....the list is endless! Please kill this proposal, stop this process and reject any further application from the GLBT. Thank you, Julie Kokos Sumner Township, Kankakee County IL
