I live aprox 1 mile north of the proposed railroad (2 cornfields away) directly north of marker 30 1/2. Our neighborhood is still being developed with 39 lots sold (37 with homes) and 11 lots still for sale. One of my primary concerns is water. Will the railroad deplete or contaminate the ground water we rely on to make our wells function? We have no access to city water. Also, flooding - our neighborhood has one entry point with a bridge, there is a creek that runs around it and flooding is often an issue, with the railroad make that issue worse? See attached photos of flooding issues. Air quality/pollution and noise are also a major concern. We moved out of the city to escape the noise and pollution there. With wide open fields, the wind will blow all kinds of pollutants that are hazardous to the health of all around. There is well documented evidence of sicknesses and disease brought on by being on close proximity to a train of this magnitude. It will be hazardous to our health even if there is never a derailment, which no one can say won't happen. If you look at the map picture, about 1 mile south is the town of Hebron with many more homes that will also be affected adversely. I'm sure this is the case along the entire stretch of proposed tracks. I see no benefit to destroying the way of life chosen by many in this area, not to mention the livelihood of farmers, risk to students at very nearby schools - especially considering there are many unused railroad tracks that could be used to facilitate this proposed railroad. Eminent Domain should not be allowed for personal gain. Thank you for considering our lives, health and livelihood when weighing the cost/benefit to this proposed project. Please reject it, don't make Chicago's problem our problem. Thank you.
