I oppose the GLB railroad for many reason but one major is the watershed issues it would create. In porter county the water from division rd. drains south to the Kankakee wetlands. By putting a railroad that runs east to west would cut the natural flow of water. One reason this would happen is because of the water tiles that run in these fields. These are underground pipes that drain the water table. Some of these clay tiles were put in 50 years ago by hand or small backhoes. They were not always documented and can be fragile. Attached are 2 photos of tiles that broke this spring from just equipment and age. When they broke the washed out a 8'x8' area. So by not being able to repair these lines and the continual breaking (because of the proposed tracks). It would cause flooding on the north side of porter county(mostly residential area) it would limit water to a natural wetlands. It would reverse the natural flow of ground and rain water. There would be no way of knowing we're all of these tiles exist and years to rebuild this natural watershed. On mile 25 where this photos were taken I have at least 2 tiles that drain 2,000 acres north in residential and farm areas. If there are more that were never documented it could be as high as 3,000. Thank you for your time.
