RE: Grundy County, Illinois DuPont Rd W1/2E1/2SE&E1/2W1/2W1/2SE (EXS150) SEC28-33-6 PER 281024 & 281025 Estate planning can be difficult. Choices have to be made for loved ones. Some are trivial while others take more consideration and thought for the future. My Grandfather, Carl Myers, thought he had left his beloved farm to his six children and their heirs as his legacy. Though some of his children have sold their portions my mother, 86 yr old Dorothy Myers Hougas has held on to hers. It consists of 40 acres of which 30 are farmed. The income from this land has supplemented her meager SS income and now has to help pay for her nursing home costs. The proposed route of the GLBRR would diagonally run through the entire 30 acre plot. This would leave 2 small triangles of farm land one of which would be completely landlocked. Any monetary value to the remaining few acres would be greatly reduced, not to mention the loss of future income from the acres taken by the GLBRR. The audacity of having your income and your heritage taken away for someone else to use as THEIR legacy is an affront to the American principle of being responsible enough to plan for your future. Should this project go forward decisions will have to be made involving the long term care of my mother and the task of explaining to her that someone has taken her land for their own children. It won't be going to hers. - Kathleen Daugherty
