I strongly oppose the proposed GLB railroad and rail yard in project. For a multitude of reasons...permanent destruction of farmland, drainage issues will be huge, eliminating much needed livestock, only to name a few. Any existing farmers in the area will have to deal with him creased liabilities including railroad crossings, compaction of soils as the rail is developed, and risking permanent damage to soil with transporting of oil and chemicals. That brings up the huge example today with the train derailment and oil spill in Oregon as the evacuate their school and town. What about the wildlife out in our Kankakee area...coyotes, Eagles, red fox to name a few. Once farmland is lost to another land use, it will never be brought back to crop production again. To use this many acres is unthinkable as the farmland is what feeds the people of the world. The people who live in this area have chosen to live in this quiet area. Two churches and their cemeteries are within these boundaries. Are you seriously considering just digging up these graves. My grandfather was a pastor at Zion Lutheran church and we grew up and were taught to respect the cemetery. We were not even allowed to run and play in the cemetery, as that was considered disrespectful...and you want to dig it up??? Really?? As I sit inmanyof the meetings including the one in Morris where Mr Patton was present, I do not see at all the need to create another railroad when what we are using is sufficient. Why are you considering thedisruptionof so many acres of farmland?
