Surface Transportation Board RE:Environmental Impact Study Document # FD 35952 GLBT Railroad Definition of ENVIRONMENTAL; THE CIRCUMSTANCES OR CONDITIONS BY WHICH ONE IS SURROUNDED". I chose to live in a rural area. I chose to live outside of town. I chose the peaceful, quiet atmosphere. I chose an agricultural lifestyle. So did the rest of the people who live in the rural areas this proposed GLBT railroad would affect. While researching the environmental impact of this proposed railroad, our choice to be here, our choice for a quiet lifestyle, our choice to live away from possible hazardous chemical spills, contaminated wells and obtrusive train track noise and horns, should figure prominently in your research. The environmental impact on every single person within the study area whose surroundings will be changed forever matters. The environment we choose to live in is not vacant land. It is not useless, unused land. This is irreplaceable farmland. This land is a business handed down through generations. While railroads have given up their unwanted, unnecessary, unused rail tracks to bike paths just within the past 30 years, these farm businesses are still thriving within the same family for over 100 years. A private company should never be allowed to take another man's business away for private gain. This isn't just one farmer. It is a legacy handed down from fathers to sons for generations. It is their income, their children's income, it is their lifestyle, it is the environment they chose. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT; THE CIRCUMSTANCES OR CONDITIONS BY WHICH ONE IS SURROUNDED. Will the impact on each of the thousands of people who have come out against this proposed railroad hold valued importance while you calculate environmental impact? Sandy Linden"
