I appreciate you taking into consideration my strong opposition of the proposed GLB railroad for the following reasons: Noise pollution will be a huge problem for the people living in the affected areas. The sound and ground shaking of the heavy trains and the required whistle notification at every road crossing (½ to 1 mile apart) would undoubtedly cause disruption in the lives of everyone near by. According to the information that Frank Patton has supplied, the tracks would handle up to 110 trains per day. Imagine if you were trying to sleep and every 13 minutes the loud rumble and whistles of a train could be heard. The sound of the passing train would barely be gone when another oncoming would be heard. No matter what anyone says, those of us who have chosen a rural peaceful lifestyle would never become accustomed to this awful noise pollution. I urge you to immediately put an end to this proposal. It does not serve the public interest in any way, shape or form. The CREATE program in Chicago serves the needs of the rail system. This is a private capitalistic venture that serves only those investors and hurts the communities it will run through.
