I am writing to voice my opinion against the proposed GLBT railroad project. We farm 240 acres that will be 1/2 mile across the road from the railroad. We love farming! We took over the almost 100 year old family farm about 12 years ago. My husband says he is living his dream! He lovingly nicknamed our farm his little piece of paradise". There was a very old farmhouse on the property when we moved here. We planned what kind of house to build for a couple of years. We wanted something that would fit into the landscape. We didn't want a mansion, just a one story house with a large front porch. We wanted to sit on the porch and look out across the prairie. Our builder suggested we put the house on the land at an angle, so we weren't looking straight across the road, nor out the back door at a machine shed. Now with this proposal, we would be overlooking 5 sets of train tracks to the west of us. 1 main track, 1 siding track and 3 staging tracks for rail car maintenance & storage. The thought of our quiet, peaceful country life being taken over by a railroad is very upsetting. We love the quiet & serene lifestyle. We enjoy the birds singing throughout the day. All this will be taken away with the railroad passing through. When making your decision, please consider the Aesthetic impact of the GLBT proposal."
