• Land use concern • Socioeconomic • Docket # FD 35952 Why would the STB approve Frank Patton’s GLBR when there are two other Class I railroads that already have bypasses around Chicago? The Norfolk Southern has stated in a comment (EI-22974) to the STB that they own their own bypass and are not interested in being a user of the GLBR. The Canadian National Railway purchased the Elgin Joliet & Eastern Railway (EJ&E) in 2008. The EJ&E was nicknamed “The Chicago Outer Belt Line”. Both of these two railroads are not being fully utilized. Why build another railroad bypass? The GLBR is soliciting Class 1 railroads to use their toll railroad. Instead this rail commerce could be routed on the two existing railroads. CN & NFS already have bypasses in operation around Chicago. This would save all property owners and fertile farmland in the path of this unnecessary GLBR. This railroad would be inconsistent with the public convenience and necessity therefore please deny GLBR request to construct this railroad. Tom Hinspeter Salina Township, Bonfield, Illinois
