[VALPARAISO] I recently read a letter from our Porter Co. Indiana Assessor and I am very against the Great Lakes Basin R.R. due to the negative impact on our county and the individuals who live here. Hauling products such as crude oil through our county and subjecting us to safety and environmental issues because of the train traffic and possible hazardous spillage is totally unacceptable. We all depend on Well Water in our area. Our children would also be affected (this passes by several schools, affecting the safety issue of the children on buses vs. train traffic and the vibration/noise issues.) Why do you think Mr. Patton does not want the train in his county or his back yard? It doesn't take much thought to figure that one out. Here's our assessor's letter from Porter Co. Indiana, attached for your information.
