Dear Mr. Navecky: I am writing to you and the Board over concerns with the proposed Great Lakes Basic Railroad. While the proposed route is over 270 miles, I am focusing my submission specific to the section that is slated for Eagle Creek Township in Lake County Indiana. In Eagle Creek township, there have been numerous sightings of American Eagles. The picture that is attached shows an Eagle on the ground located where the rail bed may be located. The habitat of the Eagle is extremely fragile and any disturbance, especially with pollutants and noise will have several adverse affects on this small Eagle population. I ask that the Board turn down the application of the Great Lakes Basin Railroad as it will have only negative impacts on the fragile environment of Eagle Creek Township.
