Re: Docket No. FD 35952 - Great Lakes Basin Trasportation, Inc. Dear Mr. Navecky, In April of this year, US rail traffic plunged 11.8% from 2015, according to the Association of American Railroads. A recent photo, via Google Earth on May 3, 2016, shows 292 engines sitting on a siding west of Benson, Arizona, with this scene playing across the country with engines and railcars parked out of sight. Where's the NEED for Great Lakes Basin Transportation to construct another rail line? Is GLB's true intent to construct a route for Bakken crude oil? Great Lakes Basin Transportation, Inc.'s design would connect Canadian Pacific's rail, south of Rockford, IL. to the Eastern lines of Norfolk Southern and CSX who they, (CP) through hostile takeovers, have tried to acquire. Wall Street Journal published a map showing routes carrying crude oil stating, Railroads have become virtual pipelines carrying crude." (12/3/14) In 15,000 acres, how many oil tankers and locomotives could be parked? How many acres does and oil refinery require? Where's the NEED for Great Lakes Basin to construct another rail for a likely environmental nightmare? Donald Trump, presumptive GOP nominee, speaking at the Petroleum Conference in Bismarck, N. Dakota, called for cutting regulations and for building the Keystone XL pipeline. (New York Times 5/26/16) Where's the NEED for Great Lakes Basin to construct another rail line? Regards, April Gerstung"
