• Land use concern • Docket # FD 35952 My farm is located in the path of the proposed GLBR. The proposed route would consume the entire frontage of my farm along Manteno/Deselm road, section 14, Rockville twp... On the GLBR satellite map, the farm is between mile marker 73 and 74. Marker 74 would be south of the farm. There would be no access to my farm as it would be fragmented and divided in angled hard to farm parcels. The remaining farmland north of the proposed railroad would be land locked with no access. This farm has rich fertile soil that has produced over 200 bushel corn and 60 bushel beans even in some of the challenging years. You cannot replace this productive soil once it has been destroyed by a railroad. The GLBR would make the farm drastically drop in value and productivity after construction. Farmers in this era use large efficient equipment. Farming fragmented land would be difficult and hard to operate this large machinery on smaller angular parcels. Field tile lines that drain this fertile soil would be crushed. Pooling, ponding of rain water would drown out crops on each side of the railroad. Sub soils would not be drained of excess water and the remainder of the farm would not be nearly productive as it was before the railroad. This would create financial harm to my family and all other farms that the GLBR is constructed on. Please deny the GLBR a permit to construct this environmental disaster. . This railroad would be inconsistent with the public convenience and necessity therefor please deny GLBR request to construct this railroad. Tom Hinspeter Salina Township, Bonfield, Illinois
