We would prefer that this busy railroad not be routed through the Hebron / Kouts area because we feel that it would damage current efforts to upgrade the housing and landscape upgrades that are now going on. It would set progress back a lot in our area. Why not consider routes through the deteriorated areas of Gary and Hammond. Many outdated and deteriorated homes in this area are currently being demolished with federal assistance. The area is, however, blessed with outstanding transportation. I65, I80, I90, I94, US 12, 20, 6, 30, and 41 as well as numerous railroad lines pass through this area. Here is the right location for an intermodal transportation facility. Chicago is a city whose time has passed. Do they make anything in the city? It is in decline and will continue to decline. Where is the congestion then?
