Mr Navecky: I am writing with grave concern over the proposed Grate Lakes Basic Railroad route in Eagle Creek township, Lake County, Indiana. I have attached a section of the proposed route that is due East of Lowell, Indiana. I wish to relay my concern on the inability of Emergency Services to service our entire neighborhood if this proposed rail line is built. As you can see in attached scan, the rail line cuts through Route 2 (a major East-West artery in Lake County, and immediately cuts across Clay, 173rd and 165th streets. All of these are at-grade crossing and any train of nominal length will simply cut the Township in half. All Emergency Services (Fire, Paramedic, etc) come from the town of Lowell - approximately 5 miles due West of I-65 and Route 2. There will be no ability for any Emergency Services to be dispatched to our township as the train will cut off all routes. As in any neighborhood, we have our share of elderly residents whose right, not privilege, but right to Emergency Services will be jeopardized if this rail system were to be constructed. I wish to ask for your consideration in this matter as the availability of Emergency Services is critical for all residents and should not be compromised for any reason. Thank you Mark Dvorscak
