I am writing in opposition to the proposed GLBT railroad project. Although it is not passing through our property, it will only be 1/2 mile away, across the road from our family farm. We have a beef cattle operation and I am concerned about how the constant noise and vibrations of the trains will affect the animals. It is very quiet out here on the prairie, and our animals are not used to a lot of noise. When the cattle get nervous or worked up, they begin running through the steer yard. The cattle could fall and injure themselves or run through the fences when they get riled up. I am also worried about the safety of my husband, sons and other family members who help on the farm. If the cattle become agitated by the train, they could injure or trample someone. Research shows that noise pollution does have a negative affect on farm animals. Please consider this when making your decision on the proposed railroad project.
