These comments are in reference to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad, Docket No. FD 35952. I oppose this transportion plan as it will only move commerce, pollution and population from the northern areas of Indiana to the south, thus damaging more of the environment in the process. We should revise and repurpose land that has already been compromised by industry and dense populations INSTEAD of creating MORE damaged zones. I've lived in Northwest Indiana my whole life and know very well what we have lost environmentally in the name of jobs and the economy. Everything done in the name of the economy was short-sighted and, well, just stupid. We could have had a good local economy AND polluted much less. We knew plenty then, but we know so much more now - no more excuses. This railroad will only extend the damage further down from Lake Michigan. It's time to stop repeating this mistake. It's time to stem - not spread - pollution. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Kathleen Van Arsdel Valparaiso, Indiana
