[Garden Prairie] comments to docket no FD35952 Our home is located at mile marker # 205. Our address is 9474 Marengo Rd., Garden Prairie, IL 61038. The train that GLB is proposing would place the green line on our property, 16 ft from our garage, on the west side of our home. Where we view our west sunsets. With it being so close our concerns are: 1-Noise levels of trains going back and forth along with the railroad cross bars going up and down all day long. We live very close to the street. Our driveway would be blocked by the traffic stopping at the railroad tracks. Which brings # 2 concern. 2- Emergency vehicles response time to our home. Trains going by and they cannot get to the emergency. 3- Potential for chemical spills, as we live on grounds that have a very high water table. Our sump pump runs year round (even in the winter) the ditch area never freezes up. Because of the water always running from our sump pump. We have a well system that could easily be contaminated from any spills. 4-Accidents at the railroad crossing, which is again next to our home. 5- Air quality, the smells and fumes of a train going by daily. 6-With a train coming that close to our home the vibrations that would rattle the foundation and our very large windows. We would have a lot of cracks in our walls and foundation. Along with the vibrations and stress on the home. 7-All of this would depreciate the value of our home significantly. We moved to the Boone County area in 1999. To get away from the noise of the city. We love and enjoy the country living, wild life and farm land. (which we can see nothing but farm land as far as our eyes can see from our house) We bought this house and my husband completely remodeled this home from the floor to the ceiling. With adding a large addition. We put a lot of time and sweat and money into making it a perfect home for us. It has been said A man's home is his castle". We agree that if GLB is allowed to build this close to our home, we would be forced to move. We could not live under these conditions. So we ask you to please look closely at how it would affect us. We pray and trust that the Washington STB would realize the impact to our home, water and environment areas and make the right decisions. Sincerely, Todd and Brenda Green"
